The Power of Positive Thinking

People who are blessed with an abundant degree of positivity, achieve remarkable success in their endeavours. They are classified as the people who have the positive frame of mind. They are, of course, not supernatural, but the only thing that differentiates, is their attitude. Instead of giving much importance to their weaknesses, they concentrate on their abilities. It is not their behavioural pattern to curse the destiny for their failures. They take their failures as stepping-stones to success. They always find out positivity. This is called positive thinking or positive attitude. On the contrary, a negative mind holds on to weaknesses and exaggerate them. Such people mumble and curse the situations or luck for their setbacks.

A belief that goes “you can always be better than what you are now” is the base of positive attitude. It strengthens your soul to focus on your abilities and overlook weaknesses. Your body, a highly efficient machine, is controlled by brain. A fine-tuned combination of brain and body produces positive thoughts and brings you success. Remember that the body follows the signals transmitted by brain. Whatever signals it receives, it works in that way. Researches reveal that the working pattern of your body and your thoughts have interconnection between them. One has to fill his mind with positivity, if he really wants to succeed. Now, where from this positivity comes, is the basic question. Our conscience, a third sense that differentiates between better and worse, awakes our brain to opt for positivity, and subsequently the brain transmits signals to the body to work accordingly.

Other important thing is the type of attitude that generated in our minds depends on our surroundings. If we study the lives of successful people, we can find that positive-minded people always surround them. Though the positivity may seem insignificant to us, it can have the force to turn the globe. Winston Churchill, the former British Prime Minister says, “An attitude is a small ingredient, but makes a lot of difference in one’s life.”

Power of Provocative Thoughts

Actions are the reflections of our thoughts, and the thoughts are the outcome of our attitude. Whatever changes we see in today’s world have come through provocative thoughts only, and the provocative thoughts undoubtedly are a part of positive mind. They can be cited as the compressed force that can change the entire system. An idea can change your life – positive idea for success and negative idea for failures. Let me cite an example of Mahatma Gandhi who always advocated a belief of Ahimsa (non-violence) which is nothing but a purely positive thought. Many might have laughed at him for putting forward and practicing the policy of Aahimsa against the brutal violence of British. But his belief exploded one day and uprooted the autocracy of the British. This is the power of a proactive thought. Others might have applied violent means for freedom, but they did not succeed because their thoughts and ways were destructive. I wish to describe violence as a lose effort, and the success is never a derivative of any lose effort. Success is a continuous structural process of development backed by knowledge, patience and openness of mind. So, fill your mind with positive, constructive and enriching thoughts. This will ensure a noticeable difference in your attitude and eventually in your life.

Soul searching:

Many times in life, we feel less enthusiastic and brood over anxieties cropping up from various perceptions which may or may not have any connection with our career or social life. This type of state of mind is quite common in life. Sometimes, it also happens that inspite of our extraordinary brilliance; our mind surrenders to adverse situations and plunged into negative feelings. This breaks our mental sturdiness and leaves us in despondency. Negative thoughts are inevitable, but sticking to them may deteriorate the situations more for us. Rather, overcoming them through conscious efforts is more desirable thing we need to do when trapped in negativity. We can express it as a soul-digging or soul-searching exercise. This is just a guideline and not a universal rule, but we may find out our own ways and means of energizing our minds with power of positive thinking.

Remember that nothing is easily achievable in life; we need to toil for it. In the process of reaching success, we, at any point of time, would require others’ support and co-operation. And the support we get from our colleagues depends on how good our attitude is with them. So always be positive in all endevours.

Plan, follow and improve:

Everyone, irrespective of varying functional areas, wants to reap excellent results at the end of the day. All of their endeavours are directed towards good results only. To make this happen, one needs to lay down a precise planning in addition to the knowledge and skills required for a specific job. The role of planning is very important. An accurate planning wins half the war before one actually jumps into it, and ensures amazing results for an individual. A person without proper planning is like a boat sailing without sails. Here comes the perspective of attitude, without which, it is extremely difficult to achieve success in life. Positive attitude believes in planning and confirms its significance, whereas negativity is always chaotic.

Attitude:

This can be spelt as follows:

A = Attribute  to be positive.
T = Try  to change if the attitude is negative
T = Total control  to negate your negative thoughts.
I = Instinct  to use to visualize the positive, even in adversity.
T = Think  to start everything with positive and constructive approach.
U= Understand  all your inherent strengths.
D = Develop  your conscious to achieve the best.
E = Energize  your inner self to influence outer self to be always positive.

You have to remember that your attitude, apart from yourself, affects the others around you. People develop good or bad image about you from your pattern of behaviour. In today’s competitive working environment, while you have to work as a team member, your attitude is one of the major criteria that decide whether you embrace success or reap failure. Without balanced attitude, it will be tricky for you to overcome the obstacles coming on your way off and on. So, thoughts are to be sensitized to eradicate the shadows of negative emotions. By practicing this hypothesis, your mind will gradually be energized to pursue the positive aspect of thoughts. This will in turn, become a habit and be transformed into a good attitude.

Attitudinal behaviour and its impact on career:

At the beginning of a professional career, attitudinal behaviour proves to be a great determinant. When you appear for an interview, interviewers eye this quality in you very subtly in the context of the work-related-training they require to give you. They know that behaviour but not attitude can be changed through training.

So keep in mind that you can conquer the obstacles, if you are positive, and the positive attitude only is able to blossom other inherent qualities in you. It is the positive attitude that focuses brighter side of things.

In my professional career as a marketing person and as a departmental head, I always encourage junior colleague to exert their best. I have noticed that a person with positive attitude and “can do” confidence, by and large, gets success even he is weak in some other areas. On the contrary, the maximum sufferers, I have seen, are those who are engrossed with negative attitude even if they possess extraordinary brilliance. In today’s competitive era, companies are always in search of the people, who are immensely positive by their thoughts.

Almost, all companies are now conducting psychometric analytical tests to measure candidates’ attitudes and potentiality for being successful. So be a master of your mind and not a slave of it. Controlling the mind means compelling it to focus on the brighter things and overlook the ugly around you.

Keep yourself away from negativity

Life is completely full of mysteries of successes and failures. Failures doom person’s strength and develop negative perception in him. Once negative belief is established in someone’s mind, he finds every corner darker and darker. But you can conquer this damaging state of mind by making conscious efforts patiently. You can try to develop and practice the skill of emerging from negativity when your mind is caught up by anxieties. It helps you gain optimistic attitude. ‘Never give up’ spirit is developed with the belief that “there is always a silver line behind the dark clouds.”

Attitude and Success:

Attitude and success both are hands in gloves. Success is directly proportional to the positive attitude. You can never dream a success without positive attitude. “I can do” attitude only can turn your dreams into reality. Keep in mind that success is not easily achievable, and there is no magic stick to achieve this. Mind boggling efforts, pain-staking work, eradication of negative thoughts and tremendous perseverance are the stepping stones to success. You will come across resource crunch, adverse criticism, circumstantial hurdles, etc., but when you sustain positivity, you are sure for success. Success comes only when you believe and pour your sweat into the infertile lands. It demands your wholehearted exertion and brimming confidence. When you indulge yourself in any assignments, you need to maximize your potentialities and concentrate on your goal constructively.

Surprisingly, many people belive that positive thinking and positive attitude are the domain of some particular category of high profile people. It is not correct. Even an average qualified person can touch the skies if he has a positive mind frame. To run the thought process in a positive direction, you need not to have extraordinary brain and top class qualification. It is only a matter of consciousness as to when to shut the door of your mind for negative thoughts and when to open them for positive thoughts. This is the major quality required to prosper the attitude of positive thinking. It is true that negative thoughts cannot be erased, but it is also true that the intensity of negative thoughts can be brought down with conscious efforts. Pour positive ideas continuously in your mind and you will find that the negative thoughts are reduced. If you put layers after layers of positive thoughts in your mind, the negative thoughts are covered up, and a time comes when negative thought become invisible and insignificant.

Finally, there are galore of examples of eminent personalities. A few of them are Nawab of Pataudi and Ten Zing Norgay. Pataudi, despite having one eye, with shear grit and determination, established himself as one of the greatest cricketers in the world. Same way, Norgay conquered the invincible Mount Everest with tremendous attitudinal power.

So, think positive and act positive; the outcome will definitely be positive.
