A Lovesick Acrostic
Roy Lazarus
25 June 2009, 16:00Sometimes you appear in my dreams, when I least expect it,
Treading silently, softly, afraid to wake me up, as if;
Inside that amber necklace round your neck, impossible to miss,
Nebulous forms dance in Dionysian madness, asking me, if
Every river across my barren plains, flows into the same sea?
I wonder then if your sashaying figure has come back to mock me.
Licentious was my love for you, yet can you really blame me?
Over the top,under the bottom, conflagrations of a manic depressive;
Verily you left me; I am but a tempestuous miasma of pessimism – Every river across my barren plains, does flow into the same sea.
Yet you come, and come more often – dreams are blind indeed!
On your pedestal the world is just me and this world is crumbling
Under the dead weight of this leaden conviction – conviction that
I love you, I do, I deeply, miserably, wretchedly –
Do, even though I secretly know that, it’s all
Over for good, between you and me.

Very, very good!
